World premiere of A Sacred Place

The world premiere of A Sacred Place by anthropologist Dolly Kikon was screened at Asufii Christian Institute (ACI), Mao on April 18. The event was attended by storytellers from Makhel village and representatives from Mao Council, Mao Naga Women Association, Mao Students Union, Makhel Village Council, Makhel Women Society, Robvena Union, Robvena Women Society, Punanamei Village Council, Punanamei Women Society, Punanamei Youth & Students, Chowainu Village Council, Chowainu Youth & Students and Chowainu Women Society. As storytellers and custodians of land and tradition, the community members vitally contributed not only to the film but also to its propagation.
The event opened with an introduction by Kaini Lokho (Asst. Prof., Department of Political Science, ACI), after which Makhel Chief S Pfokreni offered a traditional blessing. Kaisa Pfoze, an award-winning Mao Naga filmmaker, led a post-screening discussion, and the event closed with a vote of thanks from Dr. Daili Neli, Principal of ACI.
